The Influence of Heart Rate and Age on the Systolic and Diastolic Time Intervals in Children
نویسنده
چکیده
The systolic time intervals have been measured in 76 normal children, aged 1 month to 15 years, from simultaneous recordings of the electrocardiogram, phonocardiogram and carotid arterial pulse or apexcardiogram (left or right). Four different statistical methods were applied to study the separate influence of heart rate (HR) and age on these intervals. Left ventricular ejection time (LVET) had a highly significant correlation with HR but none with age. Age alone had a slight but significant influence on pre-ejection period (PEP) and isometric contraction time (ICT). Electromechanical systole (Q-II) varied directly with

The influence of Asthma on Right Ventricular Systolic and Diastolic Function in Children according to Tissue Doppler Echocardiography
Introduction:Asthma is the most common chronic inflammatory condition affecting the lower airways among children. Asthma may influence right ventricular (RV) function and patients may develop right ventricular hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale. The main objective of this study is to determine RV dysfunction in asymptomatic asthmatic children as detected by ti...
متن کاملDoppler-Derived Myocardial Performance Index in Healthy Children in Shiraz
Background: Assessment of myocardial function is essential in heart disease, but in regard to systolic and diastolic functions such evaluation has limitation. Ejection fraction is difficult to assess in abnormally-shaped ventricles, and diastolic inflow velocity pattern may be fused because of tachycardia. Objective: A myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index has been developed for adult...
متن کاملStudy on changes in some physiological parameters due to presence of visitors at the bedside of patients admitted to coronary care unit at Ali-ibn Abi Talib Hospital of Rafsanjan, Iran, in 2013
Background: Hospitalization in the coronary care unit (CCU) is a concern for patients and their companions. Different studies have presented conflicting results about the effect of visitors on physiological parameters of patients. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in physiological parameters (systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate) due to presence of visitors at t...

Introduction: General anesthesia is the most common technique for performance of various surgical procedures. Thiopental is the most common anesthetic agent for intravenous induction. Since the introduction of propofol as an anesthetic agent, its use has increased progressively and has become the drug of choice for induction of anesthesia in several conditions. The aims of this study were com...
